Class 2 and 3 UK Parliament Talk.

As part of focus on British Values πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§, we invited Tomas Williams - British Parliament , Senior Education and Engagement Officer for the South West to talk to our Classes 2 and 3 about how our democracy works and the roles MP’s, the House of Commons and the House of Lords play in governing the UK.

πŸ’œTomas was grateful to receive a tour from our Prefects, hearing about our focus on outdoor learning and our outdoor classroom. πŸ’œWe are a proud rural school rooted firmly in our farming community.
It’s so vitally important that our ambassadors are taught about our political system early to encourage participation in democracy as they grow.
It was a really pleasure to see Tomas answer their questions directly.
We explored with Tomas what matters most in our local community and Tom asked:
If you were lawmakers, what would you change?
Their answers were so heartwarming, every single one wanted to help people and animals. Tomas was so impressed with how articulate and passionate TeamMTB were on issues that they really cared about.
To top it off, we even had a lively debate on whether children should be banned from using the internet before they are 12- Safe to say, opinions were divided!
Thank you Tomas for such an engaging and thoughtful discussion.
The future looks bright with leaders like our MTB ambassadors coming up!
