Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary School

Welcome to Mary Tavy and Brentor Primary!

We are delighted to introduce you to our friendly village school, where children aged 4 to 11 thrive in the beautiful surroundings of Dartmoor National Park, West Devon. Our goal is to help every child achieve their best while enjoying a fun and engaging curriculum.

We believe that a fantastic curriculum meets the unique needs of each student, allowing them to grow academically, spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally.

We are always updating our website to make sure everyone can discover the exciting opportunities we offer for the children of Mary Tavy and Brentor.

What a wonderful way to end our British Science Week with a wonderful day at @dartmoorzoologicalpark paid for in its entirety by our committed TeamMTB PTFA committee. Our young scientists explored the park , following a trail of cryptic clues and riddles as our inquisitive young minds explored this year's theme: "Curiosity: What's your question?" Our young scientists had researched and prepared questions to ask the Education Team. It was such a privilege to hear what big questions our curious minds had when they actually had the opportunity to meet the zoo keepers in person and to learn about the the exciting discoveries they had made when caring for the wide variety of animals they had at the zoo A lions roar can be heard 5miles away Hummingbirds are the only birds that fly backwards When a flock of flamingos get together they are called a 'flamboyance' Elephants are the only animal that can't jump Octopuses are unique with blue blood , nine brains and three hearts. there are 1k different types of bats. bees are found everywhere in the but Antarctica. Every zebra has a unique pattern of stripes, just like a human fingerprint. They can sleep standing up. Meerkats have dark patches around their eyes that act like sunglasses to help them see in the sun while on guard duty. An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain #NationalScienceWeek #STEM #FutureScientists #TeamMTB #ThinkingSchool
